A suspect fleeing from the Rochester Police Department was taken into custody last Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the UR Medical Center.

After running through numerous parking lots, the suspect entered URMC and led police and investigators to the Patients Account Office area, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.

There, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and removed from the facility.

During the chase, a URMC staff member alerted authorities that the suspect had dropped an object into a snowbank near the Mt. Hope Professional Building. The object was recovered by police and found to be a handgun.

The suspect has no affiliation with UR, according to Lafferty. Child caught yelling at blue phoneA local child was identified after picking up a Faculty Road blue phone and screaming into it, according to Lafferty.

The child was one of three youths aged 10, 11 and 13 that were on campus intending to use the computers in Wilson Commons.

The three were warned against such behavior and released from UR Security custody without incident, according to Lafferty.Rochester resident arrested trespassing Rochester resident Eric Zwetsch, 59, was arrested by police at the Eastman School of Music’s Main Hall for trespassing at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Zwetsch was arrested by officers from the RPD after being found trespassing, according to Lafferty.

After his arrest, the suspect told officers that he was fully aware that he was not supposed to be in the building.Student suffers shellfish sicknessAn individual visiting a student in Chambers House became ill after suffering an allergic reaction to shellfish on Sunday at 7 p.m., according to Lafferty.

UR Security officers, Medical Emergency Response Team members, paramedics from Rural/Metro and the Rochester Fire Department responded to the scene.

Because the victim was having difficulty breathing, the individual was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.Student lapses in and out of consciousnessUR Security officers and MERT were summoned to the Goergen Athletic Center’s Zornow Center on Sunday at 9 p.m.

A student was passing in and out of consciousness on the second floor of the Zornow Center in a state of intoxication, according to Lafferty.

The student had apparently consumed a significant amount of alcohol in his room before going to the gym.Information provided by UR Security.
