The UR men’s golf team headed to Hampstead, Md. over the weekend to participate in the McDaniel College Fall Invitational. The Invitational was hosted on the Piney Branch Golf Club, and the par for the course was a 71.

The course seemed to be a tough one, as the winning team of the Invitational shot a 47-over par for the tournament and the best golfer in the field ended up even. Eleven teams total competed, including St. John Fisher College, Elmira College and SUNY Delhi.
On day one of the Invitational, the ‘Jackets shot a collective score of 325. Senior Jon Pecor led the Jackets with a six-over 77.

Freshman Michael Chudacoff finished the day with an 80.

Fellow freshmen Michael Buenaventura and David Wien each shot an 84. Sophomore Ryan Williams recorded an 86 for the first day.

However, the team was lucky to finish its play at all three teams were unable to finish their rounds due to darkness. UR finished the first day 19 strokes off the lead and in sixth place.

On the second day of the Invitational, the Yellowjackets improved their play and ended up shooting a 318 for the day, seven strokes less than the day before.

They also had three men shoot an 80 or below, up from two the previous day.

Buenaventura led the ‘Jackets on day two with a six-over 77 and finished the weekend with a 36-hole total of 161 a score good enough for 22nd place.

Pecor, who had the best two-day round score for the ‘Jackets, shot a 78 on day two and a 155 overall. He ended up tied in eighth place overall with four other players.

Wien shot an 80 on Monday to bring his two-day total to 164. Teammate Chudacoff, who shot an 84 on the second day, also finished the tournament with a 164. Both men ended up tied in 32nd place. Williams shot an 83 on Monday and ended up placing 40th with a score of 169.

UR finished the Invitational tied for sixth place with St. John Fisher.

The ‘Jackets have finished their fall season and will start up again in April at the Mid-Atlantic Invitational in Hershey, Pa.

UR had a solid fall season, with its best finish coming in the Liberty League championships, where it finished in second place.
