The URochester Yellowjacket women’s soccer team faced off against the NYU Violets at Fauver Stadium on Oct. 10, with the match finishing in a 1–1 draw. The match started off intensely in the first half, with the Violets taking multiple shots early in the game. The ’Jackets defense managed to stop a chance that NYU had at the 6 minute — which the ‘Jackets took to the other end of the field for a near goal in the next minute — and later blocked two Violets’ corner kicks.

NYU managed to score in the 34 minute on a kick by sophomore Forward Sydney Freese (29), assisted by first-year Forward Lily Smoley (6). The game remained 0–1 till the end of the first half, though both teams took multiple further shots.

The ’Jackets came roaring back in the second half however, taking ten more shots on goal by the end of the second half, compared to the Violets two. URochester converted on one of these shots at the 80 minute, with  sophomore Midfield/Forward Jane Mueller (21) scoring an equalizer.

The game ended with a score of 1–1. URochester’s women’s team will next play against the University of Chicago on Oct. 25, to continue the UAA stream of games.
