1. A security officer observed a male individual walking down the middle of South Plymouth Avenue toward the pedestrian footbridge and a female driving beside him on Sunday, April 8 at 1:47 p.m.
According to UR Security Investigator Daniel Lafferty, the male began walking up the ramp of the bridge, at which point the female got out of the car and followed. The male then began to attempt to climb up the footbridge’s side safety rails while the female tried to prevent him from doing so.
Police were called and the male was transported to the Strong Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for care. Neither of the two individuals had any affiliation with the University.
Student incurs shoulder injury
2. A student was transported from Goergen Athletic Center to the Strong Memorial Hospital Emergency Department on Sunday, April 8 at 9:25 a.m. According to Lafferty, the student had sustained a shoulder injury while working out on an exercise machine.
Student suffers chest pains
3. Security officers and the River Campus Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) responded to a student experiencing chest pain in the Susan B. Anthony Residence Halls on Saturday, April 7 at 2:39 a.m. The victim was transported to the Strong Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for evaluation and care, according to Lafferty.
Cell phone, charger vanish from lounge
4. A student’s cell phone and charger were stolen from a third floor lounge in Hoeing Hall between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 7. According to Lafferty, no police report was filed and the individual responsible for the theft remains unknown.
Individual experiences difficulty breathing outside Java’s
5. An individual outside of Java’s Cafe on Gibbs Street told Security officers that he was having difficulty breathing on Saturday, April 7 at 7:43 p.m. According to Lafferty, the individual, who was found to have no affiliation with the University, was transported to Rochester General Hospital for care.
Burnt food activates alarm in Riverview
6. A fire alarm was activated in Riverview building E on Saturday, April 7 at 8:06 p.m. According to Lafferty, a resident said that the smoke detector went off while he was cooking.
Officers noted that the detector had been removed from its mounting bracket on the wall. The resident told Security that he removed the smoke head in order to make it stop beeping. The detector was put back in place, the alarm was reset and the student was warned. No damages were incurred.
Rugby game leads to injury
7. Security officers responded to Fauver Stadium on Saturday, April 7 at 9:30 p.m. after an individual injured his neck.
The individual, who was being treated by MERT responders, told Security that he had fallen down and was accidentally elbowed in the neck during a rugby game.
According to Lafferty, the victim was identifed as a student from Rochester Institute of Technology and was transported to the Strong Memorial Emergency Department for further care.
