Who sets up Commencement? A team of 22 plans for months
Twenty-two staff members from Event and Classroom Management spend October to June planning the ceremony, with four of them working full-time on the event. Facilities and Meliora Catering also play a role in getting everything in place and the food for the different ceremonies across campus.

UR Mock Trial sending team to nationals
UR’s teams started prepping back in August, and now the A team — the only team that has survived eliminations — is headed to Minneapolis for the tournament. Last year, both A team and B team went to nationals at UCLA.

SA approves amendment addressing gendered groups
The amendment, proposed by a task force late last month, came in light of last year’s All-Campus Judicial Council ruling that SA was violating its non-discrimination policy by remaining affiliated with single-gender organizations.

Mice in Phase draw resident complaints
Four of the six buildings in Phase — Munro, Kendrick, Slater, and Gale — have been affected, according to Senior Sanitarian Peter Castronovo from the University’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety. Reports to Campus Times by students stated that the mice have been spotted on multiple floors.

Wilson Commons and Douglass go dark for Earth Hour
The event was put together by the Astronomy Club in hopes of gathering support for a lighting system throughout campus that is more environmentally conscious. It also aimed to inform students of the dangers of climate change and the need for sustainability now.

Laser lab faces possible closure
The lab has also been home to a number of Ph.D. students, not only from UR, but from universities worldwide. Students have gotten the opportunity to work at the “OMEGA” facility with state-of-the-art lasers, one being one of the most powerful high-energy lasers in the world.
