Week 5 of the NFL took place Oct. 8–12 and kicked off with a game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1–4) and the Dallas Cowboys (2–3). The game ended in a win for the Buccaneers, 24–16. They dominated the game with three touchdowns and a successful field goal kick.
The next game took place in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium between the Philadelphia Eagles (2–3) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (4–1). The Jaguars managed to squeak out a win, taking a field goal to end the game 17–19.
The Cincinnati Bengals (3–2) bested the Miami Dolphins (0–5), who are still looking to get their first win. The game ended 31–24 to Cincinnati, with five fumbles between the two teams and two resulting in turnovers.
The Las Vegas Raiders (3–2) suffered a crushing defeat against the New England Patriots (3–2), 17–45. Raiders Quarterback Kirk Cousins (8) managed only one touchdown, in comparison to New England’s Quarterback Drake Maye (10), who scored four of the team’s six touchdowns.
The Minnesota Vikings (5–0) kept up their undefeated streak in Week 5, besting the New Orleans Saints (1–4), with a win of 23–13. The Saints only ended up with two scoring drives the whole game, and also threw two interceptions. The Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers are the only two teams post-Week 5 that remain undefeated.
The Cleveland Browns (3–2) faced off the New York Jets (2–3) at Metlife Stadium, in a relatively low-scoring game of 12–17. There were only 3 touchdowns total in the game, with two happening in the last quarter.
The Indianapolis Colts (2–3) went to Acrisure Stadium to play the Pittsburgh Steelers (3–2), and were defeated, 22–34. Indianapolis actually kept a close game via field goals, even with their lack of touchdowns scored, until the end of the fourth quarter.
Houston came away with a win, with the Texans (1–4) beating the Tennessee Titans (0–5) 26–3. The Titans have unfortunately been on a losing streak, having not won a single game in the season so far. In their matchup against the Texans, they had the first score of the game, which ended up being their last, in the first quarter.
The game in Landover, Maryland, between the New York Giants (3–1–1) and the Washington Commanders (1–3–1) ended in a highly competitive stalemate, 27–27. Neither team managed to get one over the other in this divisional overtime, resulting in a tie game.
The Chicago Bears (3–2) played the Green Bay Packers in a competitive divisional round game, with three of the four teams in the NFC North having the same record. However, the actual game, which ended in a 7–31 defeat for Chicago, wasn’t that competitive. The Bears only scored once in the first quarter, for the Packers to then dominate the game from there.
The Denver Broncos (4–2) beat the Los Angeles Chargers (0–5) 23–17 in another divisional game. The Chargers are another team with zero wins so far in the season, and that loss streak continued, although they put together a close matchup. But in the end, Denver came away with the win.
The Detroit Lions (3–2) beat the Arizona Cardinals (1–4) at State Farm Stadium 45–21. The Cardinals only mustered three touchdowns to the Lions’ six. Both QB’s, Jared Goff (16) and Jacoby Brissett (7), each scored three times.
The San Francisco 49ers (5–0) won in a close game against the Seattle Seahawks (3–3) at Lumen Field in Seattle, WA, 32–29. The two teams are both first and second in the NFC West, which was characterized by the neck-and-neck scores throughout the game.
The Baltimore Ravens (4–1) played the Atlanta Falcons (2–3) for Sunday Night Football, beating them 30–23. After another neck-and-neck game, Baltimore came in during overtime and scored a game winning touchdown to take the win home.
Finally, for Monday night football, the Buffalo Bills (4–1) squeaked out a win over the Los Angeles Rams (2–3), 37–34. This was another thrilling overtime game, at SoFi Stadium.
