Hall’s goals as the new dean of faculty are to truly understand the campus and create a deeper connection with individuals around the University.

Graduating senior revealed as Rocky

Senior Mahir Khan will be the only Rocky graduating this year. Khan said that his experience as Rocky the Yellowjacket has not only allowed him to channel his school spirit but also to better his experience at UR.

Students who worked for Slaughter remember her kindness

Slaughter had been a Democratic representative for the Rochester area since 1987. She was not only a strong advocate for women rights, co-authoring the Violence Against Women Act, and the only microbiologist in Congress, but also the author of the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act and the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act. She was known on campus for her fights to secure UR funding.

Laser lab faces possible closure

The lab has also been home to a number of Ph.D. students, not only from UR, but from universities worldwide. Students have gotten the opportunity to work at the “OMEGA” facility with state-of-the-art lasers, one being one of the most powerful high-energy lasers in the world.
