A 1993 Honda Civic was stolen from University Lot sometime between Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 21 at 1 p.m., according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.

The vehicle belongs to a graduate student and was recovered by Rochester Police Department officers, who took the car to an impound lot for safekeeping.

The student, who was unaware that the vehicle had been stolen, was notified by family that the car had been found, according to UR Security.

Employee arrested for burglary

Rochester resident Tamario Hunley, 21, was arrested Dec. 19 on burglary and petit larceny charges, according to UR Security.

Staff members in Wilmot Building reported that an individual was acting suspiciously. When approached, the suspect fled from security officers, and was eventually found in a basement bathroom in Hutchinson Hall with keys that belonged to the university, which were missing from a secured key box in Cyclotron Building.

The suspect was identified as a former temporary building service employee.

RPD officers took the suspect to the public safety building for further processing, according to Lafferty.

“China Nite” poster stolen from the Pit

A poster advertising China Nite belonging to the Chinese Students’ Association was taken from the Pit area of Wilson Commons between Jan. 24 at 11 p.m. and Jan. 25 at noon.

The CSA reports that some fliers posted in the tunnels had been removed, as well.

Man arrested for stealing from Wilder

Rochester resident Jason Richardson, 33, was arrested on burglary and petit larceny charges on Dec. 18, after a student reported encountering an unidentified suspect in her Wilder Tower suite, according to security.

UR Security officers observed Richardson in the building, and recognized him from a previous encounter.

Richardson fled from the officers, removing several PlayStation 2 games from his jacket as he did. Security officers were able to stop Richardson in Hill Court Lot, according to UR Security.

Richardson entered a guilty plea to the charges in court on Dec. 23 and was sentenced to serve three and a half years in prison.

UR Security officers are still trying to identify the owner of the games and where they were stolen from him, according to Lafferty.

Professor misplaces laptop

A professor’s laptop was taken from his office in Strong Memorial Hospital between Dec. 31 and Jan. 15. The office was open and unattended.

On Jan. 27, the professor notified security that he had found the laptop in the trunk of his vehicle.
