Frosty Festival

Has the cold weather got you down? Has your roommate tried to kill you several times because he can’t seem to find any “alone” time? When it seems it can’t get any worse it gets better. Winter Fest 2004 starts this Friday and doesn’t give up until you’ve cheered up, or Sunday. The Campus Activities Board, class councils and hall councils have gone out of their way to ensure that you have a good time. Friday marks the beginning of the celebrations. Later on Friday you can roll the dice and spin the wheel at Casino night in Wilson Commons. Free food and prizes will be given out, even to the losers. Are you one of those rage-aholics who go through several computer mice a year because you like to throw them at things? Well try throwing something that can’t break and brings you even more frustration – snow! On Saturday there will be a snowball fight on the academic quad. Unfortunately, professors will not be in attendance. Targets will start arriving at 2 p.m. Are you a great dancer but who always loses out to Quasimodo types when it comes to the ladies? Can the sight of your face make milk curdle and turn men to stone? Then come celebrate Mardi Gras a little north this year. Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m live music by the Nate Rawls 18 piece Big Band will keep you swinging while your unusual luck with total strangers will keep you grinning. Tickets are on sale right now at the common market for $10, they are $12 at the door. Formal attire required. Have you ever wanted to construct a six-foot penis? Or are you just lonely and want to bring back your old buddy Frosty the snowman? Lamenting the loss of a favorite pet, resurrect them in snow form! Prizes will be awarded for the best sculptures, or whatever you make out of snow. The contest will be held all weekend.
