Once again, the men’s and women’s cross country teams registered solid performances. The men posted a fifth-place finish at St. Lawrence University on Saturday. The women also had a strong showing, finishing sixth. The fields were by far the largest of the season, as the men and women competed against 16 and 18 other teams, respectively. Junior Christina Michael paced the women’s team, finishing in ninth place overall with a time of 23:45. Senior Dan Duett led the men’s team, finishing in 11th place with a time of 26:43. As recently as the early 2010s, it was standard practice for surgeons to provide 30 to 40 or more opioid pills for common, minimally invasive procedures. Most of these pills, however, would remain untouched, left over in the patient’s medical cabinet or kitchen pantries for potential misuse.
