The Super Bowl often comes down to which quarterback can stay consistent as the game  gets more intense. This season, Drake Maye, playing for the New England Patriots, has shown more signs of being that quarterback than the Seattle Seahawks’ Sam Darnold.

Throughout the regular 2025 season, Maye completed over 70 percent of his passes, throwing for more than 4,300 yards with 31 touchdowns while keeping interceptions low. That combination of accuracy and production is rare, especially for a young quarterback. It shows an ability to move the offense forward without relying on risky throws.

Darnold has had a strong season and deserves credit for it as well. He passed for just over 4,000 yards with 25 touchdowns and helped lead his team to the Super Bowl. However, his efficiency numbers did not quite match Maye’s. Completion percentage and yards per attempt matter in games where every drive is critical, and Maye held the edge in both.

What makes Maye especially appealing is how calm his game feels. The statistics reflect a quarterback who makes the correct read more often than not, and avoids the types of mistakes that swing championship games. As pressure increased late in the season, his performance stayed consistent, rather than slipping throughout the playoffs, even while enduring intense weather conditions in the American Football Conference (AFC) Championship game in Denver.

The Super Bowl is one game, and anything can happen. But  when you weigh accuracy, efficiency, and season long reliability, Drake Maye enters this matchup looking like the better quarterback.
