Daniel Borsching, 19, a student at another Rochester-area college, was arrested on Saturday night for trespassing after not complying with instructions given by security officers, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.
Borshing was observed on the Fraternity Quad carrying an 18-pack of beer. When questioned by Security, he claimed he was going to the Drama House, but upon further probing was unable to provide the name of his contact.
Borsching was told to leave University premises. However, he returned to the Frat Quad later in the night and, upon being asked for identification, provided a driver’s license that did not belong to him.
Security notified Rochester Police. Before police arrived, Borsching became agitated and threw a beer can at the security officers. He was subdued and placed into handcuffs to await police.
Borsching was issued an appearance ticket to attend a court hearing.
Sigma Chi alumnus caught in fraternal theft
Security officers observed an individual carrying an item emerge from behind the Community Living Center at 4:04 a.m. on Friday morning, according to Lafferty.
When the suspect saw the officers, he put the item down and walked up to them. He was identified as an alumnus and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Further investigation disclosed the item as a composite photograph from the Theta Chi Fraternity House. The suspect admitted to taking it from the house.
The suspect was issued an interim ban form and left University property.
Local man foiled in library theft attempt
A Rochester man was arrested for trespassing on Monday evening after attempting to steal a student’s backpack in Carlson Library, according to Lafferty.
The student was studying when she felt a presence behind her. Turning around, she saw the suspect, Jerry King Jr., 33, put down her bag. King said that he was sorry and left the area immediately.
Security and library staff were notified. King was observed fleeing the building, discarding items which were later found to be taken from the bag of another student in the library.
Officers caught up with King in Genesee Valley Park. He was arrested for trespassing and issued an interim ban form.
Students observed ghost riding bicycle
Two suspects were observed on closed circuit television ghost riding a bike on the River Lot bike path, according to Lafferty.
They were stopped by officers off campus and identified as being unaffiliated with the University.
The suspects said that they were on the way home to repair the bike, which they claimed was broken.
