If you are a baseball fan, you won?t want to miss the Cooperstown Exhibit to premiere at the Goergen Athletic Center during Meliora weekend.

From Friday through Sunday, nearly 100 years worth of Major League Baseball history are to be displayed in forms of artifacts, equipment and uniforms.

The exhibit highlights uniforms of chosen players from the MLB?s Centennial Team, including greats such as Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth.

In addition, there will be other features such as players? bats, gloves, shoes and masks.

The pieces are on loan to UR by the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum located in Cooperstown, N.Y.

The exhibit will have a special viewing tonight as the Department of Athletics and Recreation hosts the 10th annual installation of the newest inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

At that time, Dale Petroskey, the president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, will address the attendees of the private reception for the honored guests and members.

This year, 17 alumni Yellowjackets will be welcomed as the newest class to the Athletic Hall of Fame. Included are members whose names should ring familiarity.

UR notables such as Louis A. Alexander, Jr. ?51 and former instructor Merle Spurrier have a part of them adorned not just in the heart of the Department of Athletics and Recreation, but also along the buildings across the River Campus.

Admission to the Cooperstown Hall of Fame memorabilia exhibit is free and open to the public.

However, the Hall of Fame reception, to be held in the Edmund A. Hajim GymnasiumFieldhouse, is by invite only.
