A Rochester police scuba team searched the Genesee River Tuesday afternoon after a report of someone falling off the Elmwood Avenue bridge near campus.

A passerby reported that they saw someone go over the railing of the bridge, police said, and a scuba team was dispatched as a precaution.

Police did not confirm whether anyone or anything had been found.

“There was no threat to the safety of University community members at any point,” University Spokesperson Sara Miller said in a statement to the Campus Times.

Ambulances and Department of Public Safety officers were on scene as well, where emergency responders stayed for hours.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
