Tragedy struck and the UR community responded.

A national emergency prompted UR to cancel classes on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001. However, a number of emergency resources were provided for UR students Wednesday.

All college Deans were available in their offices all day, for students who wished to see them.

There was a silent vigil held at 3:00 p.m. in the Interfaith Chapel. An interfaith prayer service was also held at the interfaith chapel at 8:30 p.m.

24-hour gathering centers were provided so that students would have a place to go with their concerns and to receive information. Students could go to CLARC for television and computer access, Wilson Commons for Television access, and the Chapel to speak to Chaplains, or for television, phone, and computer access. Residential life also provided television access.

In addition, several locations also provided services on a more limited basis. The career center provided eight phones and computer access from 9-7 p.m.. The College Writing Program, Learning Assistance Services, and the Study Abroad Program all provided telephone and computer access from 9-5. The study abroad program also provided television access.
