Two Eastman School of Music students jogging off campus, stopped to catch their breath on the Platt Street bridge, which is near the High Falls area, after 9 p.m. on Sept. 16 when they were approached from behind by a group of four people.

The students were punched in the head and face, and then pushed to the ground, according to UR Security.

They were held there while one of them took their dorm keys, UR IDs, and one of their wallets, which contained $40.

The suspects left the area on foot and the victims summoned the Rochester Police who responded to the scene, according to security.

The students involved were transported back to the Eastman Living Center by police where they notified security.

The victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.

Their UR IDs were deactivated from the system shortly afterwards.

Laptop stolen from Schlegel Hall

A graduate student’s laptop computer and a notebook was stolen from a shelf in a second floor ladies room in Schlegel Hall between 11:30 a.m. and noon on Sept. 16.

The items had been placed on the shelf while the victim used the restroom, according to UR Security.

The computer was valued at an estimated $3,000. No police report was filed.

Seventeen chairs stolen from Lattimore

Seventeen chairs were stolen from a fourth floor conference room in Lattimore Hall before Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m.

The chairs were valued at an estimated $1,700. Staff discovered the theft the morning of Sept. 12 and notified security after checking the immediate areas for the chairs, according to Lafferty.

Bike stolen from Susan B. Anthony Hall

A student reported that someone stole her bike between Sept. 1 at noon and Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. from the bike rack outside of Susan B. Anthony Hall.

The bike was secured with a cable lock, which was removed.

The bike was worth about $300. A police report may be filed at a later time, according to security.

Cash taken from sleeping students

An unidentified suspect entered an unlocked room and stole approximentaly $180 in cash from a student’s wallet while he slept between 2:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Sept. 12.

One student awoke in the morning to find his wallet lying on the floor instead of in his desk drawer, where he had left it, according to Lafferty.

The other student had his money stolen from a dresser drawer.

The students may file a police report at a later time, according to UR Security.
