Students participating in a n event for “Homeless for the Homeless,” a fundraiser on campus, were harassed in the area outside of Wilson Commons on Sunday, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.

Security officers arrived on the scene at 2:14 a.m. to find three suspects attempting to light the students’ cardboard on fire.

The students reported that one of the suspects was trying to get the other two individuals to stop.

The suspects stated that they had frequented several of the fraternity houses on the Frat Quad but did not know which ones. Two of the three suspects were uncooperative with Security, according to Lafferty.

Two of the three individuals in question were also issued interim ban forms by the University. All three suspects were identified as students visiting from other universities.

The suspects were told to leave University property, and they acquiesced without any further struggle.

Underage drinking in event a cause for alarm

On Friday night, officers in Douglass Dining Hall were notified of two persons who were believed to be consuming alcohol at an event.

Upon questioning of the suspects, officers found them to be University undergraduates.

The two students admitted to imbibing alcohol within the perimeters of the event, according to Lafferty.

Both of the students in question were determined to be underage for the consumption of alcohol.

As such, they were escorted from the event without any further incident.

Feelings of lightheadedness force MERT call

Also on Friday night, Security officers responded to a student in Douglass Dining Hall who reported feelings of lightheadedness.

The victim believed her condition to have been brought on by the heat in the event, and she stated she felt as if she were going to pass out.

The Medical Emergency Response Team arrived at Douglass to evaluate the victim.

The victim was advised to step outside for a breath of fresh air. She then declined any further medical treatment, according to Lafferty.

Parking lot slip’n’slide on ice at Eastman

A Security officer who was patrolling the Eastman Complex happened upon an elderly man in the parking lot that borders Main Street and Gibbs Street.

The man was found lying on the ground and complained of hip discomfort, adding that he had lost feeling in one of his extremities after slipping on the ice.

Rural Metro was called to the scene and transported the man to Rochester General Hospital for additional evaluation and care.

The Facilities staff was notified and attempted to counteract the conditions in the parking lot.
