Following the tri-meet loss against the Canisius University Griffins and the Siena University Saints, the Yellowjackets made an incredible comeback in a double win against the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Oct. 24. The ’Jackets scored an impressive 199 for the women and 183 for the men.

The ’Jackets had some great finishes in the relays and individual events, with the women and men finishing primarily first and second in most of their high scoring events.

The women and men’s 200-Yard Medley Relay teams finished first and second respectively. First-years Rebekah Jung and Apple Wojtowicz, sophomore Ally Mackey, and senior Adele Hellstrom for women’s, along with sophomore Sebastian Gans, first-years Hamzah Rauther and Liam Coffey and junior Connor Kann. With the women finishing in 1:52.26 and the men in 1:37.70, these times had a decent separation from the Dragons for the women and a close following for the men.

The individual events didn’t disappoint either, with sophomores Phoebe Hamblett and Tyler Yeung placing first in the 1000-Yard Freestyle, both with an exceptional lead. The 200-Yard Freestyle took a decent amount of points as well, with both Hellstrom and senior Nate Attwell taking first, followed by sophomores Julianne Weaver and Matthew Spence.

Jumping off the board, the divers had a great meet as well, with senior Julia Sides taking a win with a score of 290.03 on the 3-Meter Board, followed by senior Zuzu Bailey, junior Lilia MacKenzie, and first-year Dee Vijay. The men’s 3-Meter Board results were also promising with senior Max Wozinski taking first with a score of 252.68, followed by first year Jackson Poulin and sophomore Gregory Wilber.

Breaking the streak, the Red Dragons’ first- year Tommy Whitman and senior Calvin Eggleston took first and second respectively, while the ’Jackets Wozinski took third. Julia Sides took a sweep of the diving board for the women, scoring a second win on the lower board. Bailey, MacKenzie, and Vijay rounded out the lower half of the board.

For the second meet of the season, the ’Jackets swim and dive teams made a great comeback and are getting ready for their first away meet at SUNY Fredonia on Nov. 7.
