UR’s men’s tennis team has been on a rampage for the past two weeks. Carrying their momentum from last week, the Yellowjackets have had tremendous success this past weekend, winning both singles and doubles in the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional Championships at Vassar College. Singles champion and senior Partha Bhattacharya defeated Peter Pine of Hobart and William Smith Colleges 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 6-0. Playing with intensity and enthusiasm, Bhattacharya was able to win a grueling tiebreaker and come back to win after losing the second set. Freshman Thanos Kantarelis and sophomore Eric Hansen won the title and became the doubles ITA Regional Champions, defeating David Chachu and Rod Razavi of Rochester Institute of Technology 8-4. The three advance to the Wilson/ITA National Championships at Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Fla. from Oct. 14-17.Lee can be reached at alee@campustimes.org.

As recently as the early 2010s, it was standard practice for surgeons to provide 30 to 40 or more opioid pills for common, minimally invasive procedures. Most of these pills, however, would remain untouched, left over in the patient’s medical cabinet or kitchen pantries for potential misuse.
