An undergraduate was assaulted during an attempted robbery by three suspects as he was walking down Plymouth Avenue toward his off-campus residence around 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 26.
The suspects approached him approximately 100 yards south of Brooks Avenue. One of them began punching him in the head and upper torso, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.
A second suspect came from behind and began striking him with a stick on his back and shoulders.
The third suspect asked the victim for his wallet, but the student told him that he did not have it, according to UR Security.
Passing motorists stopped and honked their horns as the suspects searched the victim’s pockets.
The suspects left, walking north on Plymouth Avenue.
The victim then called the Rochester Police Department on the cell phone of a motorist who had stopped for him.
The victim was bruised on his neck and shoulders but declined medical attention at the time of the incident, according to security.
RPD responded and a crime report was filed.
Visitor punched on Fraternity Quad
An unidentified assailant reportedly punched a visitor in the face after 3 a.m. on Nov. 23.
The visitor was standing in front of the Psi Upsilon fraternity house when the incident occurred, according to UR Security.
After being punched in the face, the victim walked onto the Fraternity Quad, where, unprovoked, the suspect struck him again.
The victim’s glasses were broken during the incident and he sustained bruises to his face.
He declined medical attention and no report had been filed with RPD, according to security.
According to witnesses, the suspect is affiliated with the university, but UR Security was unable to locate or identify the suspect, according to Lafferty.
Laptop stolen from Rush Rhees
An undergraduate’s laptop was stolen from the circulation desk area of Rush Rhees Library between 3 and 4 p.m. on Nov. 23, according to security.
The computer was placed on the floor while the victim checked out books and was accidentally left behind, according to UR Security.
The laptop was missing upon the student’s return, according to Lafferty.
The computer is valued at $1,700.
The victim was to file a report with RPD at a later time, according to security.
Rochester resident arrested for trespass
Rochester resident Chrislor Dornelus, 24, was arrested on criminal trespassing charges after he was found in a classroom in Meliora Hall after 10 a.m. on Nov. 23.
The suspect has been implicated in previous incidents on campus and was already advised to stay off university property, according to UR Security.
Dornelus was taken into custody by RPD officers and taken to the public safety building for further processing, according to security.
