It’s that time of the year again. Tonight the appearance of the moon in the sky will mean another year has gone by on the Chinese calendar. Thanks to the Chinese Students Association, you can ring in the New Year in style. The CSA is sponsoring several events around campus, dubbed China Nite 2004, but don’t worry this event lasts more than one night. On Tuesday you can take part in Movie Nite, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 11:30 p.m. The two featured films are “Infernal Affairs,” an action-packed cop drama, and “My Left Eye Sees Ghosts,” a drama about one woman’s loss of her husband. On Wednesday in Wilson Commons you can try your hand at calligraphy, Chinese painting, or look at some interesting styles of Chinese clothing. Snacks will be provided. This event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. in the Hirst Lounge.Thursday is Game Nite, also in the Hirst Lounge, starting at 7:30 p.m. and finishing at 10 p.m. Anyone interested in a good game of Chinese checkers, chess, or mahjong should come. Grandmasters will be in attendance if you want some good competition. These events are all free, courtesy of the CSA. What are you doing next Saturday? I know I’ll be catching dinner and a show, and keeping with my usual “I’m a Jew from NYC theme,” the dinner will be Chinese food, and it will be good. China Nite Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m., in Douglass Dining Hall. The Golden Dynasty Restaurant will be catering the event, and delicious options will be available for non-vegetarians and vegetarians alike. After you’ve gobbled down your last dumpling, head on over to Strong Auditorium for a performance by the CSA players. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and goes until 10:30 p.m. It is $5 with your student ID. Pi Delta Psi will be hosting the after-party. Kung hey fat choy!
