Computer equipment and four laptops are stolen from Schlegel Hall

Sometime between Thursday, Jan. 15 and Monday, Jan. 19, an unidentified suspect or suspects entered the Information Technology area of Schlegel Hall. According to UR Security Investigator Daniel Lafferty, the suspect or suspects stole seven jump drives, four laptop computers and a hard drive.

UR Security investigated the area and found no evidence of forced entry into the building. The Rochester Police Department was notified.

Student discovers Nintendo Wii stolen

On Friday, Jan. 16, a UR student residing in Anderson Tower reported his or her Nintendo Wii console and video games stolen.

According to Lafferty, the student reported being awoken by the sound of a room door closing at 3:27 a.m. The student then noticed the Wii system and video games stolen.

The student also reported hearing the stairway door closing and someone walking down the stairs.

A thorough search of the building returned negative results.

A police report has yet to be filed.

Graduate student has wallet stolen from office desk

A UR graduate student reported a wallet stolen from a desk in an unsecured and unsupervised office in Hutchison Hall.

The graduate student reported that the incident occurred between noon and 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16.

According to Lafferty, a police report will be filed at a later date.

Sleeping student discovers $175 missing

On Saturday, Jan. 17, a student residing in Wilder reported $175 in cash stolen from a wallet.

The student reported that the cash was stolen sometime between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 4:50 a.m.

According to Lafferty, the victim was sleeping at the time. The student noticed the cash stolen from the wallet shortly after awakening. No police reports were filed.


Laptop stolen from unsecured suite

A student reported a laptop stolen from his or her suite. An unidentified suspect entered the suite sometime between Jan. 18 at 11:15 p.m. and Jan. 19 at 2:15 a.m. and reportedly left with the laptop.

According to the victim, the room and suite door were unsecured.

Another resident who was in the suite until 1:10 a.m. reported not hearing anyone enter while present.

According to Lafferty, the Rochester Police Department will be contacted via the 311 hotline in the near future.

Eastman School of Music basement window broken

Around 7:30 p.m., Jan. 17, an unknown suspect or suspects entered the facilities office in the basement of Eastman School of Music Complex and exited by breaking out the window.

According to Lafferty, the staff reported a spare cell phone missing from one of the shelving units.

The Rochester Police Department was notified and the basement windows were repaired.
