The UR men’s golf team enjoyed both beautiful weather and great golf in Meadville, Pa. this past weekend when it participated in the Guy Kuhn Invitational. The invite was hosted by home team Allegheny College and included a field of 15 Division III schools, a couple of Division II schools and two additional squads from Allegheny College.

UR started the first day of competition off well, posting a 299 overall score to put them only seven strokes off the leading team Division II Indiana University of Pennsylvania. All five golfers for UR shot under 80 to help keep their team high in the rankings.

For the ‘Jackets, sophomore Ryan Williams shot an even 72 to tie for sixth overall in the individual standings.

UR’s lone senior, Jon Pecor, finished off the first round in a tie for 11th place, with a two-over 74.

The Yellowjackets finished the tournament on Monday in perfect golf weather. UR continued its solid golf from the day before, shooting a 298 overall for the day. Williams again was UR’s best player, shooting a two-over 74 and finishing the tournament tied for ninth.
Freshman David Wein finished the tournament tied for 21st place with a score of 149 (75-74) and also received Liberty League Co-Rookie of the Week honors. Pecor rounded out the top three for the ‘Jackets, tying for 28th place with an overall score of 151 (74-77).
