On behalf of the Fraternity President’s Council, The Multicultural Greek Council and the Panhellenic Association, I’d like to introduce our new Greek column. The word “new” may not be entirely accurate, as the idea of a Greek column in the Campus Times has certainly existed in the past. However, with the exception of a few articles published sporadically in the past two years, the column has altogether disappeared from existence. It is the intent of the incoming FPC executive board to reinstate this bimonthly column as a vehicle for the promotion and propagation of the Greek community here at UR. The revival of a Greek column is just one method in which FPC is seeking to establish a firm connection between the fraternities and sororities and the rest of this institution. One purpose of this column will be to consistently and accurately keep the Rochester community abreast of the accomplishments of the fraternal organizations – from sponsored academic programs to philanthropic contributions to community service. It is our hope to shed light on all of the positive efforts made by the fraternities and sororities here at UR. By doing so, we can show that the shared values and ideals of the Greek system parallel the mission of this institution – Meliora! We welcome and encourage responses to the Greek Column. Comments, suggestions and sure, even criticisms, may be e-mailed to myself or Adam Braveman, or dropped off in the FPC mailbox in Wilson Commons 510. The content of the installments that I shall submit to the CT are not defined by any stringent guidelines. I encourage members of the Greek community to contact me with programs and events that they have or will be sponsoring. Lisk can be reached at mlisk@campustimes.org.
