Women’s Soccer
The soccer team was stacked up against some tough competition this past weekend. UR surrendered their first game of the season to William Smith College, 1-0.
The team challenged Union College, but were deadlocked at 0-0 for the second straight season due to competitive play.
UR shut down the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday.
Junior Mary Walsh scored the two goals for her team. The first goal was assisted by sophomore Laura Morrison and junior Emily Urbancyzk on the second.
The Yellowjackets have the weekend off. They host SUNY Oswego at Fauver Stadium next week.
Men’s Cross Country
The cross country team performed beyond expectations this past weekend at the Pennsylvania State Behrend Invitational, placing third out of the 14 competing teams.
The team scored a total of 56 points, just five points short of the second place team from Case Western Reserve University.
Sophomore Mark Stevens was the team’s top finisher at the meet. He placed second overall in the 8K with a time of 26:03.
Senior Kevin McGettrick placed seventh overall with a time 27:03.
Sophomore Dan Muller crossed the finish line at 27:52 to take 10th place overall.
Volleyball
The Yellowjackets have lost a lot of steam lately, losing four of the last five games.
UR was defeated 0-3 by Ithaca College. Junior Samantha Carr still assisted 29 kills and dug 14. Senior Kate Czarniak killed 10 and dug four despite the loss.
Subsequently, they lost two more against SUNY Brockport and SUNY Geneseo, both with final scores of 1-3.
The only success of the weekend for UR was the game against Buffalo State College. The Yellowjackets swept Buffalo in a 3-0 win.
Finally, at the Rochester Instiute of Technology, UR failed to gain ground at home, falling with a final score of 0-3.
