Are you ready for some winter fun? Concerts, performances and dances will all be part of this year?s Winter Carnival. The three-day carnival will start with an Everclear concert in the Louis Alexander Palestra. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., Thursday. Tickets are $19 floor and $16 bleachers with your UR ID. Pick up your ticket at the Common Market and head over to the Palestra for some loud music and great fun.

?We host Winter Carnival so that students can have a fun and free time,? said sophomore Santo Marciano, chairman of the Campus Activities Board.

So join in on the excitement and Friday come see In Between the Lines, UR?s improv performance group, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Douglass Dining Center. Next is a dance party with a DJ and Karaoke in the Hirst Lounge in Wilson Commons from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturday marks the final day of Winter Carnival 2001, so don?t miss out on the merriment. Begin the day with various student performances in The Pit in Wilson Commons from 1 to 5 p.m. Groups performing include the Fencing Club, Off Broadway On Campus, the Strong Jugglers and the Midnight Ramblers.

Next catch some enjoyment with the Inflatable Bouncy Things. There will be bouncy boxing as well as other fun novelties in the Hirst Lounge and May Room in Wilson Commons. Have your fortune told, get a temporary tattoo or just come to watch the action.

Also, in the May Room from 8 to 10 p.m., there will be the Guinness Book of World Record Holders Exhibition featuring ?Stretch the Rubber Boy,? ?Hungarian Escape Artist? and ?The Madman of Magic.? At 10 p.m. in Wilson Commons, the CAB will be holding its own Guinness Book of World Records. ?UR students are going to break a world record,? said Zachary Feldman, public relations chair for CAB.

Winter Carnival 2001 is hosted by the CAB and all events are free except the Everclear concert.
