Winded for a better energy source

Due to the United States’ mandate that states use a certain percentage of clean renewable sources, the U.S. wind power sector is in higher demand. Now Pictometry International Corporation, an aerial imaging company, has made an entrance into the Rochester and upstate market.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, Greater Rochester Enterprise arranged for Pictometry Vice President for Utilities Matt Bailey to speak at Hyatt Regency Rochester building in Henrietta to discuss the growing wind power businesses.
Pictometry intends to sell aerial photo data to wind-powered companies, which can use third parties to estimate how much wind flow a given tract land can expect over a period of time. The steady amounts of wind in upstate New York regions have made it a popular location for wind-powered companies.

‘Person First” legislation demands respect

The Center for Disability Rights is advocating for a new local bill called ‘The Person First Language Act,” which will require revised laws and county rules, as well as county-financed publications, that emphasizes individuals as people, not by their disability. The ‘Person First” legislation is a bipartisan effort.

The new bill, discussed by lawmakers on Tuesday, emerged in light of a County

Legislature chamber session in July, in which a legislator is recorded using the word ‘retard.” Twenty-six legislators were approached, but all have denied using the word.
