Women?s swimming traveled to Ithaca College last Saturday to face the Bombers in its final dual meet of the season.

Despite losing 98-148, the Yellowjackets posted some of their best career and season times against New York State?s best team.

In the 1650-meter freestyle, senior Rebecca Jasinski swam a career best time of 22, minutes 20 seconds while senior co-captain Courtney Ped-erson?s 2:17 in the 200-meter fly was a personal record for her and earned her a second place finish.

In addition, Torrey Podkaminer had two second place finished and two season bests in the 100-meter free-style and the 200-meter freestyle with times of 54.85 seconds and two minutes respectively.

?We all swam pretty well,? said senior co-captain Podkaminer. ?We were happy with [our] individual performances.?

Although the Yellowjackets were unable to post any first place finishes, the team was able to notch second-place 11 out of a possible 13 times. ?Our second-place finishes had some great times,? Pederson added.

UR and William Smith College met in Geneva, N.Y. Wednesday Jan. 24 in its only all-women competition of the season. The Yellow-jackets disposed of the lightweight Herons in a 149-87 rout.

?We had a lot of spectacular performances by people in events that they normally don?t participate in,? said Benker. ?[William Smith] was a nice chance for the women to come together.?

Pederson had an impressive meet as she set career records in both the 200-meter freestyle and the 100-meter fly. Jas-inski improved her 500-meter freestyle best with a time of 6:22. In the three-meter diving competition, freshman Rebecca Wilner broke 200 points for the first time ever in her career.

UR will compete in this year?s four-day University Athletic Assocation at Emory Wednesday, Feb. 7. ?Our numbers will be smaller,? said Benker. ?Every person will ave a chance to [perform well.]?

Benker said one of the goals for the Yellowjackets is to break school records. Yet their primary objective is to challenge both Carnegie Mellon University and New York University with eyes on beating Washington University and Case Western University.
