The Rochester Yellowjacket swim teams had a great finish to their 2025 home meets with a win against the Grove City Wolverines Nov. 22. With senior Ariana Pasquella breaking the pool record in the 200 breaststroke and sophomore Kaela Springer breaking the school record in the 1-meter dive, the Yellowjackets had a great home year.

This was the seventh straight win for the women’s swim and dive team, and an overall win for the Yellowjackets. The Yellowjackets have a very strong first-year class, and many of them finished in the first and second places of the races, with both men and women. Notably, first-year Matthew Spence broke 17 minutes (16:59.76) in the 1650 yard freestyle race, and first-year Tyler Yeung came in a very close second with 17:15.42 minutes. The Yellowjackets took first and second in the women’s 1650 yard freestyle as well, with sophomore Katelyn Packer breaking 19 minutes (18:38.13), and first-year Courtney Dietrich finishing with 19:09.04 minutes.

The Yellowjacket women swept the pool in the 200 yard backstroke, taking first through fourth, earning 16 points for the team. First-year Phoebe Hamblett, junior Sophia Dmytruk, first-year Addison Powers, and senior Morgan Edstromall broke 2:20 minutes, giving them a four second lead on the Wolverines. The men’s 200 backstroke also had a great race, with senior Max McClung breaking two minutes in the event (1:56.04).

Overall this was a great meet for the Yellowjackets, and a great way to close the Speegle-Whilbram Center for the 2025 half of the season. The Yellowjackets just finished a three-day meet at Ithaca  college, coming in second of seven teams.
