The UR women’s field hockey team hosted the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles Sept. 5 at Fauver Stadium. The game went to a home advantage as the Yellowjackets won 3–0.

With a lot of job-tackle opportunities by the field players and block tackles by the goalie, the Yellowjackets had a great defensive lineup.

The game was very intense, seemingly more in favor of the Yellowjackets based on shots taken. By the end of the game, the Yellowjackets took 37 shots at the goal, compared to the Eagles’ four.

The following home game was against the Hamilton College Continentals, which kept the spectators on their toes for the duration of the game. With the score staying 0–0 the whole game, it led to an overtime chance for a goal, which led to a second overtime, and eventually a third.

In the third overtime, during a series of shootouts, both teams managed to score their first goal. The shootout ended in favor of the Continentals, with the final game score at 4–3. Even though this game was outside the Liberty League (meaning that the results won’t impact season standings and therefore the playoffs), the coaches and officials still proceeded into triple overtime.

The Hamilton match was one for the books with each team taking a remarkable amount of shots: Rochester having 10, Hamilton at 31. The Yellowjackets almost scored a goal in the 43rd minute of the game, but due to a foul, the referee waved it off.
