“The Internet is really, really great. For porn.”
If you’ve heard the “Avenue Q” soundtrack or you haven’t had your head stuck under a rock for the last few years, you know that porn is all over the Internet. I used to play the URL game in high school, typing random things into my Internet browser and adding a “.com” to see where it took me. My name, my sister’s name and most of the other names and words I could think of led me to porn sites.
Porn has been around for a long time, obviously. Back in the day, one of the first uses of video technology was to make porn. Heck, after they finished printing the first mass-distributed Bibles, they used the first printing presses to make dirty pictures widely available. Human beings have a healthy sex drive, and our dirty minds can corrupt any new medium as quickly as it comes out.
So, of course, as soon as the Internet could send pictures, videos and writing into everyone’s home, it was filled with porn. There are many types of porn out there. There’s a famous Internet rule randomly titled Rule 34, which states that there’s porn on the Internet about anything you can think of. You just have to find it.
A lot of you have probably been looking at porn since you hit puberty and figured out that you could find out more about sex with just a few clicks of a button. If you’ve been surfing the porn sites for years, you probably have a good idea of what kinds of things you like and where to find them. I’ve seen the porn libraries of a lot of students on campus, and they can be pretty impressive.
If you’re new to porn, though, or you don’t like what you’ve seen of it so far, it can be hard to find something that satisfies you. A lot of porn is very formulaic; there are five sexual positions that the porn actors go through, with a long scene of fellatio and a cum shot at the end. Porn producers call this last scene where a man ejaculates on his female partner’s face the “money shot” because it supposedly ensures that a porn film will make money.
Not everybody wants to follow that formula, though. I am personally not a fan of the money shot; it’s all well and good if you like it, but it just doesn’t turn me on. There is plenty of porn, though, that seeks to get away from the formula.
Particularly in the last decade or so, porn directors and producers have been surfacing who make couples porn that’s a little more intimate or porn that shows a greater range of body types or more realistic sex. If you’re determined enough (or know the right people to ask for help) you can find these pretty easily. Sex-positive adult online stores such as Goodvibes.com, Babeland.com and Blowfish.com give good recommendations if you’re looking for a little more variety.
Keep in mind when you’re watching porn that not everything you see is realistic. What looks good on camera is often different from what feels good in real life. Porn can be a great tool to educate yourself about sex and help you figure out what turns you on, but take it with a grain of salt. If you think something looks really hot, go ahead and try it in your real sex life, but keep your expectations realistic. Not everyone screams at the top of their lungs and shoots hot streams of fluid upon orgasming.
Porn can be great to aid in masturbation. It is not always enough to get turned on by the images in your head. It helps to have naked bodies gyrating on the screen in front of you. Both men and women can experience sexual arousal through visual stimulation, so porn is an easy way to go if you want to rub one out between classes, regardless of your gender.
If you’re not familiar with porn but want to give it a shot, spend some time on the Internet and see what you find. You may be pleasantly surprised.
