The Music Interest Floor is holding the second in a 4 part series of open recitals for anyone wishing to perform a musical selection or two.

The recital will be held Sunday, March 31 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Gowen Room of Wilson Commons and is free.

This is part of the musical mission of MIF.

The format is like an open-mike night and attracts rock to a cappella and kazoos. In addition, there is a piano available.

This is an opportunity for nontraditional acts to perform. Food and drink will be served afterwards and the event is open to the public.

Paris can be reached at tparis@campustimes.org.

“Jaws in Concert” was a Splash

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra played the score of the film live, while the movie itself was projected above the musicians. It was a beautiful performance and an affectionate tribute to such a famous film.

Trump is calling curtains for the performing arts

As proud Americans, we often look down upon authoritarian governments for enforcing censorship on music, but under the Trump administration, free speech and the right to information is slowly but surely being squeezed from our grasp.

On writing

It is human nature to create, to dream, to strive, and while I may feel silly sometimes talking to friends in “loftier” or more stable career paths, I still feel the drive to write, to sing, to scream, to learn.
