Get ready for an exciting evening this Saturday, because it’s time to go to the only show of its kind at UR. What other campus event brings divas such as Cher, Mariah Carey and Madonna together in one night?

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Friends Association will host its annual “UR a Drag” show in the May Room of Wilson Commons at 8 p.m.

There will be five performers this year including Aggy Dune, Ambrosia Salad, Shirley D. Vyne, Pandora Boxx and this year’s Miss Gay Rochester, Naiomy Kane. The show will be split into two acts, with a brief intermission. Each performer will be doing two performances and all are professional Rochester drag queens, working at local venues such as Club GQ and Muther’s.

“Audience members will sit in amazement that these beautiful ladies are actually men.” junior and co-director of GLBFA Dan Lioy said. “Whether it’s your first show or your 100th show, the illusions are mind boggling.”

The queens will engage the audience at every opportunity and keep you on the edge of your seat. They are beautiful, wear unqiue, funky outfits and lip sync so well you will think they are actually singing the songs.

“They create such an energy filled atmosphere that you can’t help but to get up and dance, it’s no wonder why the show grows larger every year.” Lioy said.

The purpose of the the show is to bring the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and straight communities together to learn more about one another and also to have a fun filled evening of great music and entertainment.

Tickets for UR students are $4 and are $6 for the general public. There is limited seating, so be sure to pick up your ticket ahead of time at the Common Market. Tickets will also be available at the door.
