Tagged - growing up

Recently, I’ve been grappling with a feeling of impending adulthood — what it entails, what it takes away, and what it creates.

I don’t understand why, in America, we're all in a rush to grow up.

Why do we continue to linearize the path to maturity with respect to time and age? It’s high time that we redefine the social concept of maturity.

I understood Callie and seeing even the tiniest piece of me in her story, I couldn’t help but keep watching her until the end of “The Fosters,” and then onto “Good Trouble,” because I wasn’t ready to let go. Hers and mine are not the same story but I know it represents a lot of teenagers who are facing a brokenness they already feel is so inescapable in their young lives. 

Back then when it was fashionable to spread your face germs all over other people’s face germs at face germ-sharing parties, college life was nothing but bliss. So why aren’t you happy?

While you can just sit and let the instrumentals envelop you in a hazy fog of sound and be perfectly content with the album, focusing on the lyrics adds extra depth that is perfect background fodder for a good cry.
