A window of a visitor’s vehicle parked in Library was smashed between 3 and 4:10 p.m. on Nov. 16, while the owner was attending a football game at Fauver Stadium, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.
Unidentified suspects stole two purses from the vehicle. One purse contained a wallet with check books, credit cards, bank books and approximately $280 in cash.
The second contained around $300 in cash, credit cards and other personal documents, according to UR Security.
A report was filed with the Rochester Police Department for this incident.
Second visitor’s vehicle broken into
A visitor’s vehicle parked in Intercampus Drive Lot was broken into during a football game at Fauver Stadium between 11:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 15, according to Lafferty.
The vehicle’s window was smashed.
A purse was taken from the vehicle, which contained check books and credit cards, according to Lafferty.
Six dozen homemade cookies were taken as well, according to Lafferty.
A report was filed with RPD.
Over $800 taken from professor’s account
A professor in Bausch and Lomb was notified by his bank that unidentified suspects had negotiated two of his personal checks and that an attempt had been made to negotiate two others. The final attempt was rejected by the bank, according to Lafferty.
The professor discovered that the checks had been stolen from his checkbook that he keeps in his office. The checks were stolen between Nov. 2 and Nov. 5, according to UR Security.
The first two checks were used to take over $800 from his account.
There were no signs of forced entry into the office and the police may be notified at a later time, according to security.
Suspects attempt to steal bag from student
Two unidentified suspects attempted to steal a female undergraduate’s bag as she was walking to the Goergen Center near Wilson Boulevard at 8 p.m. on Nov. 17.
After she parked her car on Library Road, she was approached by two suspects who blocked her path, according to Lafferty.
One of the suspects grabbed the strap of her bag and tugged on it a few times. When the student turned toward the suspects, they ran away.
The student was not injured, and nothing was stolen, according to security.
The student reported the incident. Later security checked the area for the suspects. The search returned no result, according to Lafferty.
