Despite the seven cancelled games and the lack of practices on the field, freshman Katie Riegel showed no signs of cold feet as she played against SUNY Brockport Tuesday at Fauver Stadium. Riegel led the Yellowjackets by contributing 5 goals to UR?s 15-3 win.

Riegel came to UR with a solid and excellent background in lacrosse. After playing the game for seven years and winning the MVP award for her high school team, Riegel has become a strong attacker for the Yellowjackets. Despite currently being undecided on her major, this small-town girl of Delmar, N.Y. knows one thing for sure ? ?UR academics and athletics are a good match for her,? she said.

Off the field, Riegel indulges in the simple pleasure of college life ? hanging out with friends. However, her current focus is on the Yellowjacket lacrosse and she believes that the potential of the squad will go far this season.

?I think that attack wise, with [junior] Jess Lerman and [junior] Jenny Rogers leading the team and our strong defenders, we?re going to be really aggressive,? she said.

So what does Riegel predict for the team this season?

?We?re going to go all the way,? she said. ?We all really want it and we?re hungry to win.?
