Freshman Andy Larkin has been named this week?s UR Notable Athlete for his efforts in the upset of Washington University in St. Louis, the third-ranked team in Div. III basketball, this past Friday, Jan. 26.

Larkin?s final tallies from the game included 18 points, 19 rebounds and two blocked shots. He backed that performance up by leading the team in scoring with nine points against the University of Chicago this past Sunday.

When Larkin is not out on the court, he enjoys doing community service, hanging out with friends, but most importantly, working on his Sony Playstation skills.

When it comes down to game time, he is all business.

?When I am getting ready for a game I do a lot of things to get me mentally prepared, such as mentally going through my moves that I want to use in the game and making sure I know what the game plan is,? Larkin said.

He said that being a freshman playing a varsity sport is a completely different situation than what he experienced in high school.

?College basketball is a whole lot different than high school. Not only is it more intense, but most of the players I face have two or three more years of experience than me.?

Larkin credited his teammates and coaches for helping him understand the principles of the offense and defense and most of all for helping him enjoy his freshman season.
