UR men?s swimming experienced a tough loss to Ithaca College this past weekend, ending their winning streak.

There were several notable performances though. Mark Radloff swam the 200-meter breaststroke in a season best 2 minutes, 36 seconds and senior Dan Knight put up season?s best times in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyles.

?It was good for us to swim a tough team like Ithaca,? said Head Coach Julie Benker. ?It will prepare us for University Athletic Association meet next week against some of the toughest teams in Division III swimming.?

The University Athletic Association tournament kicks off next Wednesday at Emory University. The tournament lasts four days and will include events ranging from 50 yards to one mile.

?We expect to be strong, especially in our relays,? Benker said.

Freshman Brian Immerman, Mark Radloff and Mike McCormick, sophomore Mike Reinhardt and senior Dan Knight will be included on the 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter medley relays, anticipated to swim well at the tournament.

?These relay teams are swimming well this year, and we have the potential to break the school record,? Mike Reinhardt said.

Another highlight is junior diver Nate Lue. In only his second year of competitive diving, Lue has brought his diving to a new level since last year?s UAAs.

This meet will be the last UAA meet for seniors Tony Cocola, Erik Dunki-Jacobs, Joel Harden, and Knight.

?It?s sad knowing this is my last swimming as a Yellowjacket. We?ve seen this program come a long way in the past four years, and I look forward to ending on a winning note,? co-captain Dunki-Jacobs said.
