Prank phone calls raise questions of stalkerish behavior

Students in Susan B. Anthony Halls contacted UR Security about the most recent of several prank phone calls that they had been receiving for months.

They reported that the calls had been occurring about once a month on an ongoing basis.

The call in question came from an unidentified male caller at around 6 a.m. last Wednesday morning.

The students claim that shortly after they filed their report, someone knocked on their room door twice but disappeared before they opened their door, according to UR Security Investigator Dan Lafferty.

No suspect was located in the area that morning and, as of yet, no police report has been filed by the victims.

Impaired visiting student sent to hospital

A man from another college was apprehended at Wilder Tower on Sunday morning at 4:05 a.m. after he followed a student into his suite. Officers who responded found the suspect in question on the fifth floor and determined that he was highly impaired, according to Lafferty.

The suspect claimed that he was 20 years old and that he was visiting a student here at the University. He contended that he had consumed beer at an unspecified fraternity party earlier in the night and had gained entry by following a Wilder resident into the building.

The suspect, due to his level of impairment, was transported via ambulance to the Strong Memorial Hospital Emergency Department for evaluation and care.

Plethora of sexual graffiti found in dorm

Graffiti of a distinctly sexual nature was found drawn on the third and fourth floors of Susan B. Anthony Halls by an unidentified person.

The Facilities staff was successful in removing some of the graffiti, which had initially been found on Sunday but was not reported until Monday.

Fraternity signs stolen by a vagabond

While patrolling campus, a Security officer discovered four large, painted signs lying on the steps at the entrance to Lovejoy.

The signs belonged to the fraternities Alpha Delta Phi, Delta Upsilon, Psi Upsilon and Delta Kappa Epsilon. They had been previously positioned in front of their respective houses and were taken by an unknown person.

Contact has been initiated with the fraternities with regard to the return of the respective signs.

Theft of valuable bikes disheartens student

A Lovejoy resident filed a late report of the theft of his two bikes from the bike rack outside his dorm, with the combined value estimated at over $1,000.

The property was taken sometime over Winter Break, with neither bike having been secured. The student has yet to file a police report, according to Lafferty.
