3 freshmen arrested on drug charges
Three freshmen were arrested in Crosby Hall on Jan. 15 on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana.
According to security reports, Residential Life staff alerted officers after an odor of marijuana was detected on the third floor of the building.
Officers found three students who admitted to smoking marijuana. Freshmen Colin Wilson, Neil Ryan and David Bergman, all 18, were arrested and charged. They were issued tickets to appear in court.
A substance believed to be marijuana was confiscated by the police. Two smoking devices, a scale and money were determined to be drug related and these items were confiscated by security. Alcohol was also found in the residents’ dorm room.
This incident is currently being reviewed by the Dean of Students Office and the Office of Residential Life.
Damage reported at Fraternity House
Several items were stolen and property was damaged when the Delta Upsilon fraternity house was broken into on Jan. 12.
A UR ID card reader was broken off the entrance, a window was broken on the side of the house, several trophies and plaques were stolen and the letter ‘U’ was removed.
Residents reported hearing noises inside the house between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. but did not investigate.
Evidence of the break-in was discovered later that morning around 9:00 a.m. Damages are reported to be $1,750.
The Rochester Police Department has been notified.
Two laptops stolen from campus offices
Two laptops were reported stolen from campus offices on the morning of Jan. 14.
The first theft occured when an unidentified suspect(s) entered a secured office suite in River Road Labs and stole an IBM laptop from the top of a desk. The computer was valued at $2,252.
In the second incident a faculty member reported a stolen laptop from a secured office in Wilmont Hall. The value of this computer was $1,125.
There were no signs of forced entry in either case.
