Open Letter Books, UR’s publishing house, has received a $45,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA). The grant money will be used for publication of works in their formerly unpublished English translations. The grant will also support Open Letter Books’ website, Three Percent.
Open Letter Books was chosen from more than 1,500 applicants from more than a dozen artistic fields. Grant projects were chosen for their artistic merit and excellence and their focus on the presentation of works for American audiences.
Open Letter Books is one of the only publishing groups in the U.S. devoted to works in translation, publishing 10 works a year. It also runs Three Percent, a website that features book reviews, translated book awards, and publishing news.
