The University of Rochester Provost position has been restructured following the departure of former Provost Ralph Kuncl. Under the restructuring, the previous Provost position has been combined with the position of Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Sciences and Engineering. The Provost will be responsible for a variety of areas including the Hajim School, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the Undergraduate College. Additionally, a new position called the Senior Vice President for Research has been created. This position is responsible for areas including sponsored research, the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, and Information Technology.

Peter Lennie, currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Sciences & Engineering, will fill the new Provost position. Rob Clark, currently dean of the Edmund A. Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, will become interim senior vice president for research.
